But for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

I was born in Gaston county N.C. and still reside there. I am the mother of two and grandmother of five. We live in a rural area with lots of trees and critters.
Pottery has always interested me. I started taking lessons at a local pottery shop in 2001. It didn't take long for me to become hooked on clay. I also took classes at Gaston College and worked with local potters.
After retiring from my job as a teacher's assistant I decided to follow my dream. My father's woodworking shop had not been in use since his death; so I converted it to my pottery studio. I call it the Clay House because he built me a wonderful play house when I was a girl. That is where I started making mud pies.
Most of my work is made from stoneware clay and fired in an electric kiln. I do wheel work and hand build; sometimes a combination of both. Nature is the inspiration for most of my pieces.

I guess I'm a selfish potter. I don't want making pottery to become a job. Making something from a lump of earth is very therapeutic and satisfying. I usually make what I like and don't get in a big hurry. Each piece is one of a kind and you never really know how it will look until it comes out of the kiln the second time. So it thrills me every time I open the kiln to see how things turn out. I sell my work so I can buy more materials or equipment. Profit is not my goal. So my inventory is subject to my mood and available time.
